Tuning In to the world of Fractions

Orange Fractions

The seasonal fruit, Orange, was put to use by the students of Grade 4 as they were tuned into Fractions using an orange. The fruit was peeled by the students and then a few carpels were eaten. They had to express the amount eaten by them mathematically. The concepts of a whole and parts were recapitulated through the activity.The students were able to relate this activity to the concept of fractions.The class then moved on to the discussions on the types of fractions.
