Reflection on the Unit that went by!

The unit under the transdiciplinary theme 'How we express ourselves' the students inquired into the world of media and the role of media in influencing our perceptions and choices. A guest speaker from the world of media introduced the students to the different forms of media.

The students researched on the different forms of media and collated information about each media in a data collation sheet. They understood the meaning of the word perspective through a PPT.

It helped them understand that perspective differs from one person to another. They conducted a survey on their family members to understand how each person selects a particular product or watches a particular programme due to their perceptions. They learned the use of art and music in media and how each is used to influence the perceptions and choices of people. The students learned Windows Movie Maker in their ICT lessons as a part of this unit. In The students allotted an attitude and an attribute to a few ads of their choice. The students compared ads from the past and the present and predicted how the ads would change in the future using their perspective. The students were then introduced to the concept of stereotyping through a PPT.

They analysed ads for stereotype and changed them by breaking the stereotype. The students made a chart of one day from their lives using the different brands chosen by them. Social awareness as an important responsibility of media was shared with the students through videos. The unit ended with the students making a social awareness campaign using a media of their choice with the ability to influence the perceptions and choices of the target audience.

OUR WOW MOMENTS!!

The students understood the concept of stereotype and were able to articulate its meaning. They were able to come up with different ideas to break stereotypes in society.
